News Release: MCC Statement on Passing of Bishop Povish

LANSING—Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC) President and CEO Sister Monica Kostielney, R.S.M., today made the following statement on the passing of Bishop Kenneth J. Povish, D.D.
“Anyone who has spent time with Bishop Povish knows of his kind heart, powerful spirit and dedication to the Lord. His legacy of speaking for the dignity of human life, working laboriously for the less fortunate and his passion for education and justice will be remembered indefinitely. It is with profound sorrow that we say goodbye to Bishop Povish, but those of us he touched will remain blessed for eternity. Bishop Povish will be missed deeply.”
While Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lansing from 1975–1995, Bishop Povish was an active member of the MCC Board of Directors—serving on many committees and as President from 1980–1995.
