Completed or Partially Completed Petition Forms Also Should be Sent In

LANSING—In an effort to compensate for winter travelers and to ensure the maximum number of signatures are collected, the Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC) is asking parishes to conduct one more “People’s Override” petition drive to achieve the S.T.T.O.P. coalition’s goal of 325,000 signatures. The MCC is also asking for all completed or partially completed petition forms to be sent to the coalition headquarters in Grand Rapids.
“In order to achieve our goal of 325,000 signatures we are asking parishes to conduct one more petition drive to attract those who were either out of town or were not able to sign a petition the first time around,” said MCC Associate for Communications Dave Maluchnik. “We are also asking for parishioners to send in their completed or partially-completed petition forms to properly determine how many signatures may still be needed to reach the coalition’s goal.”
Petition forms may be sent to: S.T.T.O.P., P.O. Box 901, Grand Rapids MI 49509-0901.
“The Catholic Church’s participation in the ‘People’s Override’ campaign has been tremendous, yet the Michigan Catholic Conference believes there needs to be one more push to achieve our goal,” Maluchnik said.
MCC reminds those collecting signatures that an individual can only sign the petition form once, and must be a registered voter in the state of Michigan. Additional rules that must be followed may be found on the petition form itself.
Michigan Catholic Conference is the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in this state.
