Honoring Sr. Mary Maurita Sengelaub, RSM
The following statement was issued by Michigan Catholic Conference President & CEO Paul A. Long on the death of Sister Mary Maurita Sengelaub, RSM, who died on July 6 at the age of 101.
The news of Sister Maurita’s passing is sad, yet we know she lived a full life dedicated to the Lord.
She was the second woman religious to serve on the Michigan Catholic Conference Board of Directors. She brought her experience in healthcare, education and social services, in the Church and society in her service to the Board from 1977–1983, which complimented her seemingly boundless energy. The grace and class in which she approached her service was helpful to the work of the Board and the wellbeing of Michigan Catholic Conference in advancing its mission of service to the Church.
By her words and action, Sister Maurita proclaimed the good news of God, and for this we all rejoice and give thanks. May her noble soul rest in peace.
